Description of registry

SOReg was started in 2007 with the aims of registering surgical procedures for obesity in terms of volumes, methods, etc.; influencing outcome as complications, quality of life, risk factors and co-morbidity; and providing data for research.


Patients who have undergone surgical interventions for obesity.

Approximately 53.000 patients.

Volume over the past operating year

2015: 6.700.

Coverage rate

Between 2007-2010, the registry has 80-90 percent of patients, and between 2010-2015 the registry has 97% of patients who underwent bariatric surgery in Sweden. During the same time period the Swedish patient registry had 70-80 percent of patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
