Description of registry

The primary purpose of the registry is to quality-assure the prescription of technical respiratory assistance (oxygen, respirator, CPAP) for home use. An ancillary purpose is to create a base for research on the effects of the treatment.

Population

The oxygen portion of the registry (LTOT – Long-Term Oxygen Therapy) covers all patients receiving oxygen therapy in the home for therapeutic or palliative indications. The respiratory portion of the registry covers all patients who receive treatment with respirators (including Bilevel PAP) in the home due to chronic respiratory failure. The CPAP portion covers patients who receive nightly CPAP to treat obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome.

Coverage rate

Oxygen: 100 percent of the country’s clinics, 90 percent coverage. Respirator: 95 percent of the country’s clinics (excluding paediatric clinics), 90 percent coverage. CPAP: 2/3 of the country’s population, 90 percent coverage for relevant clinics.
