Description of registry

Currently contains shoulder and elbow joint replacement surgeries performed in Sweden since 1999, with the registration of shoulder instability surgery started in 2015. Follow-up from registry measures patient-reported outcome with function score, as well as revisions for treatment and implant survival analyses.

Population

All persons who have undergone surgery in Sweden can be registered. All hospitals participate.

All ages.

Total volume of registry

About 14,000 primary shoulder replacement surgeries and about 1500 elbow replacement surgeries.

Volume over the past operating year

About 1600 shoulder surgeries and about 70 elbow surgeries.

Coverage rate

100 percent of the hospitals report to the registry. More than 80 percent of registered surgical procedures are reported.

References on validations

Five studies have been conducted and presented. Publication is planned for three of these.
