Description of registry

AuriculA consists of two parts. One part comprises 16,000 patient registrations for atrial fibrillation. The other part comprises oral anticoagulation and includes approximately 100,000 patients.

The objective of the registry is to improve care for patients with atrial fibrillation and to increase knowledge on oral anticoagulant therapy and increase its use in Sweden.

Population

All patients with atrial fibrillation can be registered in AuriculA’s atrial fibrillation registry regardless of age. In the anticoagulant therapy registry, patients treated with warfarin or new oral anticoagulant therapy can be registered.

Total volume of registry

There are currently 16 000 registrations in the atrial fibrillation registry. In the anticoagulation registry, there are over 100 000 patients with oral anticoagulation registered.

Coverage rate

Coverage for the anticoagulant portion of the registry is between 45-50 percent in Sweden.
