The aims of the Swedish Child Preventative Health Registry, BHVQ, include:
The registry will provide a basis for continuous quality improvements in paediatric preventative healthcare. In the future, BHVQ may be able to follow the development of the health status of children nationally, regionally and locally, and to measure the parents’ and children’s perception of paediatric preventative healthcare services using PREM data.
All children registered in the national population registry, aged 0-5 years, in Sweden. The registry also registers children with temporary non-resident patient numbers, children without papers, and hidden children who come to the knowledge of paediatric healthcare services.
0-5 years of age.
When the registry is fully developed, it will comprise 500,000 children. A new cohort of 100,000 children is added each year.
0.
The registry is in a construction phase and no real data collection has yet been performed. It is thus not possible at the present time to measure coverage rate. A fully developed BHVQ will comprise all paediatric preventative healthcare services in the country, i.e. will have 100 percent coverage.
The registry retrieves data through automatic transfer from the preventative child healthcare records. Functionality regarding this will be described in quality studies. External data dropout will be controlled through correlation with the Swedish population register. Birth data is matched against the National Board of Health and Welfare’s Medical Birth Register (MFR).
Note: Variable lists are updated on a regular basis and should therefore be seen as preliminary. For the latest version, please contact the registry.
